Halloween events around the Flathead Valley

Things are swinging for Halloween around the Flathead Valley. Here’s a look at the fun times ahead, from harvest fests to best costume contests and other holiday revelry.


SATURDAY

Hit the Halloween Family Boo Run at 10 a.m.

The Whitefish Theatre Company’s Halloween-themed event features a 5K run/walk with prizes awarded for best costumes. Post-race, there will be food and fun. Halloween costumes are encouraged at the event but not required.

The race begins and ends at the O’Shaughnessy Center in downtown Whitefish. Pre-register at www.runsignup.com. Type in “Whitefish” in the ‘Find A Race’ search box for registration form. Same day race registration will also be available from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m.

The cost is $20 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under. Call 862-5371 for a $50 family pass or for more information.

All funds raised support free theater and music outreach programs for area youth.

The North Valley Eagles in Columbia Falls is having a Halloween costume party for ages 21 and older. Doors open at 6 p.m. for a potluck dinner, games, music and prizes. The club is located at 1640 Ninth St. W. Call 892-4081 for my details.

Marina Cay Resort in Bigfork is taking its festivities to the high seas with a Haunted Pirate Ship Halloween Costume Party starting at 8 p.m. Costume prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place winners. Enjoy live music by Billy Angel.

The Rainbow Bar & Casino, 1520 Montana 35 in Evergreen, is throwing a Halloween party with adult games and party favors. The fun begins at 8 p.m. and features DJ music and karaoke.

Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place costumes.

SUNDAY

First Presbyterian Church in Kalispell is hosting a free community Halloween Carnival from 4 to 6 p.m. Bring the family and enjoy games, crafts, a pizza dinner and Trunk or Treating. The church is located at 540 S. Main St.


MONDAY

Park Side Credit Union sponsors its annual Trick or Treat Street and Children’s Costume Contest in Whitefish for kids 13 and under.

Bring the kids to the downtown businesses on Central Avenue on Oct 31 from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Go to Park Side’s booth (look for the white tent) and get your child’s picture taken in their Halloween costume for a chance to win $100.

Photos will be posted on Facebook for voting starting Nov. 1 and will continue through midnight Nov 3.

Prestige Assisted Living, 125 Glenwood Drive in Kalispell, invites kids to its Halloween Bash from 3 to 5 p.m. There will be good food to eat and little ones can trick or treat in a warm, safe spooky environment For more details, call 756-1818.

Trick or Treat at the Kalispell Center Mall from 5 to 7 p.m. Family Friendly Flathead will sponsor games from 3 to 5 p.m. Enter the Park Side Federal Credit Union children’s costume contest from 3 to 7 p.m.

Flathead Valley Community College hosts its third annual Trunk or Treat event from 4 to 7 p.m.

Vehicles’ trunks will be decorated for Halloween and volunteers will be handing out treats to children.

The event is being hosted by the FVCC Veterans’ Association and Student Government groups and will be held in the west facing parking lot on campus. It is free and open to the public.

The village of Bigfork invites little trick or treaters to troll Electric Avenue from 4 to 6 p.m. Come and enjoy the fun and the costumes.

A Spooktacular Trunk or Treat Halloween Night is planned from 4 to 6 p.m., across from Lakeside Elementary School. There will be 40 safe trick or treat spots for kids to visit, along with prizes and more fun. Admission is a canned item for the West Shore Food Bank.

The event is being sponsored by Lakeside Chapel, Somers/Lakeside PTA and Eidsvold Lutheran Church.

A free, Big Orange Party family event hosted by Whitefish Assembly of God is happening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Whitefish Middle School gyms for kids ages 0 to 12. There will be door prizes, inflatables, games, hot dogs and candy.

Adventure Church is hosting a Harvest Festival from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The church is located at 347 Second Ave. W. in Kalispell. Call 257-9199 for more details.

Adults 21 and older can get their Halloween groove on at the annual Halloween Costume Contest in Whitefish. The cost is $10 for solo participants and $20 per group. The grand prize for singles and groups is $500. Second place is $300 and third is $200. Winners will be announced at 10 p.m. at the Whitefish VFW. Winners need not be present.
