Man confesses to dirty, stinking crime
Flathead County Sheriff’s Office took a report from a man in Bigfork who had been cited for disorderly conduct in April. The man confessed that he had defecated in someone’s yard near Big Mountain in Whitefish around the same time he was cited for disorderly conduct. The man said his “unclassy crime” had been tugging at his conscience for months and that he wanted to turn himself in. Dispatchers could not find where anyone had complained about finding feces in his or her yard, so there was no official report filed.
A woman in Columbia Falls reported that two unauthorized checks worth around $1,000 had been written from a closed account.
Someone apparently ran a vehicle into someone’s fence and knocked it down on Park Way Avenue.
A gun was stolen from a vehicle at Bitterroot Lake.
Someone reported that it seemed suspicious that trailers full of property kept arriving at one location near the Flathead River, south of Kalispell. The reporting party said that lawn mowers had arrived at the place at 3 a.m. before. He or she suspected theft might be involved.
A woman on Stillwater Loop complained that dogs kept coming into her yard at night, getting into a diaper pail and making a huge mess. The neighbors were advised of the county’s dog ordinances.
A mailbox was knocked over on Fourth Avenue West North in Columbia Falls.
A person on Cloud Creek Road in Somers reported that someone had dismantled an alarm and unlocked all the doors to a home. Unspecified items were taken.
A woman called from a location outside of Kalispell to report that her husband had allegedly taken $7,000 of hers. She was going to use the money for a down payment for a home.
Whitefish Police took a report from Colorado Avenue, where a woman had received a call from someone claiming to be with the Internal Revenue Service. The woman was told she was delinquent on her taxes and should go buy gift cards that could cover her bail. The woman purchased two $500 gift cards and one $250 gift card and gave the card numbers to someone over the phone. The woman was told to cancel the cards so she could get a refund from the business that distributed them.
An anonymous person told Columbia Falls Police that someone was allegedly selling drugs out of two cars on Darlene Road.
Kalispell Police took a report from Memory Lane about someone who had allegedly run over a mailbox and pepper sprayed the front door.
A woman called from Fifth Street West to report that a man had taken her phone the day before and refused to give it back. She and an officer were able to use tracking technology to reunite her with the phone.
A store reported that people had come in and detonated stink bombs in the establishment four or five times. The owner wanted to press charges because the mischief caused customers to leave and sales were lost as a result.
