FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: Bridwell, Columbia Falls sizzle again; Polson downs Hamilton

COLUMBIA FALLS — Dakota Bridwell threw for seven touchdowns for the second straight game as Columbia Falls racked up more than 500 yards of offense, topping Stevensville 70-21 in a nonconference Class A football game on Friday night.

The Wildcats leapt out to a 28-7 lead after the first quarter and never looked back as they got big performances from Bridwell and senior receiver Braxton Reiten.

Reiten, who had three touchdowns in the opening week, followed that performance with a five-touchdown game that included his second kickoff return for a score of the season, finishing with 109 yards receiving on five catches. Trevor Hoerner had four catches for 90 yards and Bryce Fagerland had a pair of catches for 69 yards, both going for touchdowns.

Bridwell finished 22 for 31 passing for 382 yards and upped his total to 14 passing touchdowns through two games.

Polson 24, Hamilton 10

POLSON — Tanner Wilson threw for 204 yards and four touchdowns as Polson held off Hamilton for a nonconference Class A win.

Wilson tossed a pair of first quarter scores and the Pirates (1-0) pulled out to an 18-0 lead early in the third on a 52 yard pass from Wilson to Cadis Chowning.

Hamilton (1-1) got on the board with a safety, thanks to a bad punt snap deep in the Polson end of the field.

The Pirates would answer with a 20-yard touchdown pass from Wilson to Matthew Rensvold, the second scoring connection of the night for the two Montana Grizzlies commits.

Hamilton tacked on a return touchdown on the ensuing kickoff, but the game belonged to the Pirates.

Rensvold had six catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns and Colton Cote had 24 rushes for 73 yards. Wilson added 19 rushes for 73 yards.

Bigfork 44, Ronan 30

BIGFORK — Matt Farrier had touchdowns running, passing and on a kickoff return to lead Bigfork to a Class B nonconference win over Ronan.

A senior running back for the Vikings, Farrier completed a trick play with a 20-yard touchdown pass to Anders Epperly and answered a Ronan touchdown with an 84-yard kickoff return to spur Bigfork to a 28-12 halftime lead. Farrier finished with 162 yards rushing on 25 carries to lead Bigfork.

Vikings quarterback Augie Emslie was 9 of 14 for 104 yards and two touchdowns, both to Austin Varner.

Kasey Mock led Ronan with 344 yards passing and ran for 47 yards in the loss. The Chiefs rallied in the fourth quarter, completing a 38-yard hook-and-lateral for a touchdown with 3:55 to play, but ran out of time.

Graden Greenslade had touchdown runs of 18 and 53 yards. He had seven carries for 120 yards.

For Whitefish (0-2), Spencer Moore had 3 carries for 28 yards, Derek Kastella was 8 of 18 passing for 29 yards and Sawyer Silliker had four receptions for 33 yards.

Kastella was intercepted twice, one was returned for a touchdown.

EUREKA — Garrett Graves threw for a touchdown and returned an interception 60 yards for score in the fourth quarter to help Eureka upend Cut Bank in a Class B nonconference contest.

Graves was 3 of 10 passing for 35 yards.

Austyn Sherwood ran 3 yards for a touchdown and also passed for another for the Lions. He was 4 of 8 passing for 61 yards. He also threw an interception.

Matt Anderson, 7 carries for 40 yards, had the game’s final score on a 14-yard jaunt.

Eureka linebacker James Dunn had 8½ tackles and a sack. Lineman Owen Davis had 6½ tackles and Cannan Smith, a linebacker, had six tackles.
