SOCCER: Stingy Hellgate shuts out Glacier boys
MISSOULA — Defending Class AA state champion Missoula Hellgate scored three second half goals to pull away from Glacier and win a Western AA conference match 5-0 on Tuesday.
The Knights (4-0-1, 2-0-1 Western AA) picked up back-to-back goals in the 18th and 19th minutes to get on the scoreboard, then put the match out of reach with their three second half tallies.
Rylan Compton scored two goals and had an assist to pace Hellgate.
Glacier (1-3-1, 0-2-1) put nine shots on goal but the Knights kept every one out of the net. Andrew Lorenc had seven saves in goal for the Wolfpack.
Conference play continues for Glacier on Thursday when the Pack hosts Missoula Big Sky at 3 p.m.

Knights run away from ’Pack
MISSOULA — Cadie Williams tallied a goal and an assist but Missoula Hellgate found the back of the net five times in the first half and coasted to a 6-2 win against Glacier in a Western AA conference match Tuesday night.
The Knights (4-1-0, 2-1-0 Western AA) struck first but the Wolfpack quickly answered, scoring in the 19th minute when freshman Shea Siderius scored off a Williams assist to tie the match at one.
It was all Hellgate the rest of the way.
The hosts got a Sarah Kroner goal in the 30th minute to retake the lead and rattled off three more goals in the next 13 minutes. McKell Wilson scored twice and Ava Kazemi had three assists for the Knights.
Glacier (2-3-0, 1-2-0) added an unassisted goal from Williams in the 72nd minute to account for the final score.
The Wolfpack host Missoula Big Sky on Thursday at 5 p.m.
