The IRS does not take gift cards
Columbia Falls Police fielded a call from a man who said his wife had fallen for a scam in which someone had asked her to stick more than 10 gift cards in various locations as a way to pay debt owed to the Internal Revenue Service. The man was unsure how much money had been lost. Officers took a report.
A call was logged from a mom who learned that her son had sold drugs two years ago. The mother did not think that her son was currently selling drugs, but was worried that he might take up the habit again because it was “easy money.” The son is on probation and his mother was worried about him associating with other probationers.
A man requested help from Whitefish Police after he was allegedly the victim of a road rage incident. The man was worried that the person who followed and tailgated him might have his information and cause him further troubles.
Tools were reported stolen from a home on Brimstone Drive.
Someone called from Spokane Avenue to report witnessing a logging truck hitting a delivery truck in what appeared to be a hit-and-run accident.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a black bear that had been hit and killed by a vehicle on Montana 37 near mile marker 11.
Flathead County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a road-rage incident that allegedly stretched from the U.S. 93 bypass in Kalispell all the way to the intersection of Montana 82 and Montana 35 in Bigfork. The event allegedly ended when one man exited a vehicle and told another man that he was going to kill him. Deputies made phone calls in an attempt to investigate and counsel the individuals.
A man reported that he was driving a logging truck on West Reserve Drive when someone nearly rear-ended him, then flipped the man off and started yelling obscenities.
A woman called from Conrad Drive to report that a man had assaulted her dog and that she was taking it to the hospital because it was bleeding from its ear. When a dispatcher called back to try to get more information, the woman allegedly cursed and called the dispatcher stupid. An officer went to the animal hospital and determined that the dog was fine.
Someone from Eureka reported that they had driven into Whitefish to cash a money order, only to lose the order. It had fallen into unsafe hands, apparently, since the name of the payee was changed and it had been cashed. A deputy investigated.
A man on Shadow Lane reported that he was upset that his ex-girlfriend had split for Las Vegas and taken the couple’s beloved dog with her. He was advised that a civil attorney and not a deputy was the proper channel to pursue custody of the pup.
Kalispell Police took a report from a business that said a woman had bought a fountain drink and left without paying. A worker said the woman routinely commits the theft, but that the store had not yet banned the woman from coming in. An officer said he would warn the woman if he saw her.
An officer investigated after a man said that he tried to pull into the driveway of a restaurant, but was blocked by another vehicle. A man allegedly emerged and asked the man to fight and then pointed a handgun at his face.
