Carol Catherine Irvin, 71

| September 14, 2016 6:00 AM

Carol Catherine Irvin, 71, beloved wife of Dick Irvin, passed away Sept. 12, 2016, after a valiant fight against cancer.

Besides her loving husband, Dick, she is survived by her daughter, Dionetta (Lance) Cossin of Atwater, Ohio; step-children, Mike (Marlea) Irvin of Shelby and Connie (Greg) Kasper of Whitefish; and her brother, Ken (Nicole) Weiss of Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Carol was an amazing woman and because of this she had many wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Dorothy Weiss, and her youngest daughter, Dawn Gemmete.

Carol was born July 10, 1945, in Magrath, Alberta, Canada. At age 19, she married Floyd “Skip” Chenoweth, who was in the United States Air Force, and established her dual American and Canadian citizenship.

From this marriage she had her two beautiful daughters, Dionetta and Dawn. While raising them, she worked and obtained her Registered Nurse license in 1974 and worked as an RN at Columbus Hospital in Great Falls. She then became a licensed Realtor, and, to complete her well-rounded career, Carol was the bookkeeper for Irvin, Inc., for the past 20 years.

Carol met Dick Irvin on a blind date, and they married Oct. 16, 1992. Before spending half of their time at their home in California, they traveled in their motor coach to different locations and enjoyed many friends with the Marathon Coach Club. She later became the Rally Master for the club.

Carol was an inspiration to all who knew her with her wise advice, kind words, and knack for knowing the right thing to do or say. She liked gardening and her beautiful flowers showed her talent. She was also skilled at golf and enjoyed her time with her golfing friends.

We will miss our beloved Carol terribly as she was such a dear wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. “God has taken a true angel from us, but we know he must have big things planned for her.”

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 16 at Northridge Lutheran Church in Kalispell, with a light lunch following. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Kalispell Regional Healthcare Foundation Cancer Services, 310 Sunnyview Lane, Kalispell, Montana, 59901-3129, or to Abbie Shelter, PO Box 1401, Kalispell, Montana, 59903-1401.

A heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Kalispell Regional Medical Center, Health Center Northwest and the countless friends and family for the kindness and support given to Carol and her family.
