Officers trap bear that killed deer

Whitefish Police took a report from a 15-year-old girl who reported that she had seen a bear attack a deer in an unspecified park and drag the deer off near the river. The bear had attacked the deer and pulled it into a river. Fish and Wildlife officers were able to set a trap. The girl’s family called back a little later and said that the bear could be heard from their home tearing the deer apart. Fish and game officers were able to successfully trap the bear.

An officer took a report from a business owner who said that a former employee had allegedly threatened to cause the business harm. The owner wanted the threat documented in case the employee followed through with the threat.


Kalispell Police took a report from a man who said that $85 had been taken from his wallet while he was at a medical facility.

A man on Liberty Street asked for advice on how to get his wife out of their apartment. He said she had destroyed the place the night before. An officer gave the man some advice.

Someone found a debit card in a park and decided the best thing to do was to turn it in to officers.

Two dogs on Darlington Drive had to be put into quarantine after a 9-year-old girl was bitten. One of the chocolate labs allegedly accidentally bit the girl while it was trying to catch a ball. It was uncertain which of the dogs had bit the girl.

An officer found a transient man’s camp, but could not find the transient after the man reportedly was yelling and cursing at kids in the area. The officer said he would return to the man’s camp later and advise the man that he was not welcome.

Someone on North Meridian Road reported that fence had been cut and some tires had been stolen.
