Banner causes safety concerns
A passerby called the Whitefish Police Department about a banner for an event hanging into the road on Spokane Avenue. The caller was concerned someone might be hurt or a vehicle might be damaged by the sign. Officers fixed the banner so it was hanging at a safe and reasonable height.
A Wisconsin Avenue resident and a Glenwood Road resident called to complain about noise at a nearby venue. Officers told both callers the party was a wedding with the appropriate permits and operating within the allowed noise limits.
A caller on Park Avenue was concerned when he witnessed about 20 kids running through the neighborhood. The man said the kids were probably playing a game, but they allegedly caused a van to have to slam on its brakes in order to avoid them and were jumping around in various yards. Officers caught up with the group near the high school and counseled them on safe and appropriate game play.
Officers responded to reports of an intoxicated pedestrian on Central Avenue. The man was allegedly laying on the sidewalk in front of a business when officers found him, but was able to get up on his own and keep walking.
A Baker Avenue resident called police when an unknown man outside was allegedly moaning and leaning against the house. The caller did not know if the man was intoxicated or sick. Officers gave the man directions home. It was unclear if the Baker Avenue and Central Avenue incidents were related.
Officers took two calls about fights on Central Avenue. One involved two men, neither of whom wanted to press charges; and the other involved a large group that was largely broken up before officers arrived.
Someone called Columbia Falls Police to complain about music being played at a park in town. The caller didn’t “appreciate it and would like them to stop.” Officers informed the caller that the concert was permitted.
The Hungry Horse Fire Department responded to reports of an illegal burn on Canyon Road.
The Whitefish Fire Department responded to reports of a burn pile on Delrey Road.
