Former school leader No. 2 on state board
Former Kalispell Public Schools Superintendent Darlene Schottle recently was named vice chairwoman of the Montana Board of Public Education.
Schottle served as the superintendent of Kalispell schools for 11 years. She currently works with administrators around the state as an educational consultant through School Administrators of Montana. Schottle has been involved in education for forty years, starting her career as a teacher.
The state board consists of seven members appointed by the governor and confirmed by the state Senate for staggered seven-year terms.
Schottle was appointed to the board in 2015. The board oversees elementary and secondary schools in Montana. Its duties include adoption of accreditation standards, teacher and administrator certification and administration of state funding.
