WATER COOLER: Oktoberfest features business night
Area Chamber of Commerce organizations are sponsoring a Bavarian Business Night on Thursday, Oct. 6, during the Great Northwest Oktoberfest in Whitefish. Bring your Flathead Valley business card and get in free from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening. There will be business-versus-business contests and prizes.
Oktoberfest activities take place under a big tent at Depot Park in Whitefish.
Libby bank showcased in
video series
A video series featuring a Libby bank has made its online debut ahead of the Community Banking in the 21st Century Research and Policy Conference Sept. 28-29 in St. Louis.
The series, which can be viewed at www.communitybanking.org, highlights examples of successful collaborations between community banks and local borrowers.
The Montana videos feature an interview with Joe Kesler, president and chief executive officer of First Montana Bank in Libby, who discusses his bank’s work with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and an interview with Melanie Hall, commissioner of the Montana Division of Banking and Financial Institutions, who discusses the importance of community banking in the state.
The fourth annual conference, hosted by the Federal Reserve and the Conference of State Bank Supervisors, brings together community bankers, academics, policy-makers and bank supervisors from around the country to hear and discuss the latest in community banking research and policy developments. It will be webcast live each day beginning at 8 a.m. MDT and can be viewed via the conference website at www.communitybanking.com.
Glacier International has record summer
Glacier Park International Airport set another record for summer passenger numbers, serving 97,206 enplaned revenue passengers, up nearly 3 percent over 2015.
The airport had a record year in 2015, with 236,628 passengers for the year, and is on track to break that record this year, interim Airport Director Rob Ratkowski said.
He pointed to the airport’s airline partners and their demonstrated faith in the region’s growth, adding larger aircraft, increased flight frequency and service to and through more hubs.
Krispy Kreme plans job fair this week
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts will open Oct. 11 at 2274 U.S. 93 N. in Kalispell and is holding a job fair this week to recruit employees.
The doughnut chain store is hiring about 65 full-time and part-time employees. Interested candidates can attend the job fair at the nearby Springhill Suites, 250 Old Reserve Drive in Kalispell. The job fair will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily from Tuesday, Sept. 27, through Friday, Sept. 30.
The new Kalispell shop will feature premium coffee and more than a dozen of Krispy Kreme’s one-of-a-kind doughnuts, including the signature Original Glazed doughnut.
