Jailbird becomes victim of crime
Kalispell Police took a report from a woman who called from Harlequin Court to report that her home had been broken into and that all of her grandson’s items had been stolen. The grandson was in jail. Stolen items included jewelery, watches and a car. The car was found on Patrick Creek Road later in the day.
Someone reported that a vehicle had been broken into over night while it was parked on Main Street. Another person called later in the day to also report that a vehicle on the same street had been broken into.
Someone on East Nicklaus Avenue reported that a vehicle had been stolen. Police quickly determined that the issue was not a theft, but instead was a civil disagreement between an elderly woman and her children about who owned and had access to the vehicle.
Two compound bows and three paintball guns were reported stolen from a garage on Fifth Avenue East.
Columbia Falls Police sent an animal control officer after a business reported that a pit bull had wandered into the store to peruse without an accompanying human.
Whitefish Police took a report from Wisconsin Avenue where a woman reported hearing a “pop” in the area after seeing a bear. The officers interviewed a man who said that he had also seen the bear in the area, but that he had not shot. The man said he had recently seen the bear kill a deer. Fish and game officers were contacted to handle the problem bear.
