Kalispell City Council will host two televised candidate forums for this year’s general election.

Candidates running for districts that overlap with Kalispell city limits have been invited to take part.

The first forum featuring candidates for House Districts 6, 8, 9 and 11 will be Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m.

The second forum featuring candidates for Senate Districts 3 and 6, House District 7 and Flathead County commissioner will be Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 7 p.m.

The forums will be held in the City Council Chambers at Kalispell City Hall, 201 First Avenue East, and will be broadcast on Kalispell’s public access channel 190.

Each forum will be moderated by Mayor Mark Johnson and will be kept to less than 90 minutes to maximize citizen participation both at City Hall and with home viewers.

State office candidates will face questions related to infrastructure, taxation alternative funding mechanisms, tax increment financing, public safety, roll of government, political philosophy and constituent representation.

Topic areas for commissioner candidates will include city-county partnerships, the courthouse couplet, taxation, zoning, public safety and the role of government.
