Decoration looks a little too real
An early Halloween decoration prompted a visit from the Whitefish Police Department after a concerned citizen reported a window curtain on a house had the word “HELP” written in large red lettering.
After attempting to scare a bear out of his yard by firing a round of birdshot at the ground, a man told dispatch that the bear seemed unfazed and climbed up a tree in his yard. He was advised that discharging firearms is illegal within city limits and that he would likely see quite a few bears in the area.
A woman notified the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office that her 42-year-old son was out of control. She kept asking him questions, but “he is just sitting there with his hands over his ears, saying ‘lalalalalala.’” After a deputy responded, he agreed to leave his mother’s house for the night.
A good Samaritan picked up a black and tan, male chihuahua that was hit by a motorcycle on the bypass. The dog appeared healthy other than an injury to its foot and was taken to the county animal shelter.
Posing for a photo at the Old Red Bridge in Columbia Falls, a person called dispatch after noticing a dead black bear had been dumped over the guardrail.
Someone allegedly threw an expensive propane tank into the river near West Glacier.
Suspicions were aroused after someone who showed up to a Kalispell residence in a tractor. A sheriff’s deputy responded and reported the tractor driver was a contractor hired by the property owner.
A white car driving through Marion reportedly had blood all over the trunk and back of the car, according to a person who called dispatch. A sheriff’s deputy determined the occupants had been out hunting together.
A woman reported a stolen diaper bag when she was at her friend’s house in Evergreen. She said her car keys had been in the bag, and she later found her car unlocked and her wallet stolen from inside the car.
A man was allegedly stealing donated items from a business on U.S. 2 East. A concerned person told dispatch the man was acting strange and appeared to be under the influence, with his “head flying all over the place and mouth stretching.”
