LETTER: Please take down offensive sign

| September 27, 2016 11:00 AM

What a delightful moment it must have been for my daughter, as she was driving along U.S. 93, to have her twin 10-year-olds point out to her the “Trump That B--ch” sign on the side of the road.

Unknown neighbor, I implore you to consider what message you are sending to the young people in our valley. Do you really want them to think that this kind of discourse is business as usual in our great nation now? This word that you have chosen to brazenly display to all passing motorists feels like a slap in the face to most women. It sure does to me. It is hateful, disrespectful, and vulgar.

I imagine that I do not have a chance of convincing you that Mrs. Clinton does not deserve this designation, but please, show respect for the good women of this community, not to mention our children and grandchildren. No woman deserves to be called that, and I would respectfully ask you to take that sign down.

Leave up your other signs, proudly vote for Trump, but please remember that your words can hurt, and teach our next generation about how we treat each other in this country. Please, raise the bar just a little. —Valeri Walden McGarvey, Kalispell
