Richard M. 'Rick' Collier, 66

| September 30, 2016 6:00 AM

Richard M. “Rick” Collier passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 8, 2016, of natural causes.

“Our Lord in heaven has granted him the opportunity to join his parents, brother Ronn and sister Mary-Helen, as well as other relatives and friends.”

Rick was born to Richard and Pat (Knowles) Collier on June 18, 1950, in Kalispell. He attended school from elementary at Hedges through Flathead High School, Class of 1968, and furthered his education at the University of Montana in Missoula.

His love of music allowed him to play with a few bands for many years as an accomplished drummer. Rick also played guitar and piano, always entertaining friends and family. He enjoyed being with friends and having a good time.

Rick had an adventurous mind and became a photographer with Parkway Studios International Inc. His love of people drove him to be a great family studio photographer, which eventually earned him a promotion to the home office in Pittsburgh. He managed 30 studios in the United States and Canada, later to become vice president of the corporation.

Nearing retirement, nature called and Rick wanted to move back to Montana and enjoy where his roots began. He returned to Marion to relax in comfort at Bitterroot Lake.

He is survived by his children, Maggie and Colton, of Pittsburgh; brothers, Robb (Elaine) and Randy Collier, of Marion; one nephew, four nieces, and a grandchild.

A celebration of Rick’s life will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Oct. 8 at the Hilltop Hitching Post in Marion.
