Polson nets two wins

at Fast Pitch Tournament

BELGRADE — Polson came away with two victories while Columbia Falls settled for split during Friday softball action at the First Pitch Tournament.

Polson rolled to 10-4 and 11-1 victories over Butte Central and Hardin, respectively, to improve to 4-2 on the season.

“I thought it was two very solid games for us,” Polson coach Larry Smith said.

“Especially when we got off the bus after a long ride. That first game is always a tough one, but we came out swinging against Hardin.”

Polson had 12 hits, led by Laurel Bitterman and Hannah Fryberger, who both went 3 for 3 effort. Bitterman single, doubled and tripled. Fryberger added a double.

Polson had 13 hits against Butte Central. Kaelyn Smith, Fryberger, Haley Fyant, Camas Renault and Quinn Motichka all had two hits each.

Smith, Fryberger, Paige Noyes, and Natasha Gravelle had doubles.

Columbia Falls blanked Butte Central 8-0 while losing 5-0 to Belgrade to slip to 1-5 on the season.

Columbia Falls game results were not available.

Polson and Columbia Falls both have two games today.
