Kalispell City Council mulls storm-water, forestry programs

Kalispell City Council will hold a work session on Monday to discuss the Storm Water Management Program for the 2017-2021 term.

The program is responsible for implementing storm-water control measures, assembling a team, managing communication and training for that team, providing action plans for dealing with storm water and monitoring and reporting on yearly storm-water amounts and effects.

At the meeting, council will review the updated requirements, how this impacts the budget forecast and different service levels for consideration.

The presentation will cover a current assessment fund review, equipment costs, the capital improvement program, proposed level of service options and assessment adjustment comparisons.

Following this review, staff will update council on the storm water impact fee and related progress of the impact fee committee, as this fund is currently in the process of being updated.

The council also will review the Kalispell Forestry Assessment.

Kalispell’s Urban Forestry Program is responsible for the maintenance and care of the city’s trees. This includes pruning, removing dead or dying trees and planting new ones.

The meeting will discuss the city’s budget for the forestry program and what work needs to be done in the coming fiscal year.

The work session begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
