Local skier wins national contest

Whitefish skier Parkin Costain made a big impression in the online skiing community, winning the Youn Guns Ski contest presented by Quiksilver and Newschoolers.com.

Costain was one of 10 finalists chosen for the award after submitting a YouTube video of a freestyle backcountry ski run in Cooke City, just outside of Yellowstone National Park. His submission garnered the most public votes, netting the 17-year-old $10,000 for winning the award.
