Long day on courts for Glacier, Flathead, Polson
It was a long day for Glacier and Flathead on the courts at Flathead Valley Community College Saturday.
Play began at 9 a.m. and finally ended with a Glacier girls doubles match well after 8 p.m.
“A good day, chilly, windy, but the kids battled well,” Glacier coach Josh Munro said of the duals with the Missoula schools.
McKenna Johnson and Libby Hill, at No. 2 doubles, went 3-0 on the day versus Big Sky, Hellgate and Sentinel. They rallied for a 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (9) win versus Sentinel.
“McKenna Tinseth had a couple of nice wins (at No. 1 singles),” Munro said.
She won two of her three matches.
“Overall, happy with girls singles,” Munro said.
“Our doubles play on both sides (girls and boys) fought hard all day, lot on of tie-breaks, comebacks. It was definitely a learning day. As the day went on, they were figuring things out.”
The Glacier girls beat Sentinel 5-3 and Big Sky 8-0, while losing 5-3 to Hellgate.
The Glacier boys topped Big Sky 6-2, while losing 7-1 to Sentinel and 6-2 to Hellgate.

Flathead
The Bravettes lost 6-2 to Sentinel and Big Sky and were blanked by Hellgate 8-0.
Hellgate and Sentinel both won 8-0 over the Braves and Big Sky won 5-3.
“I am really proud of my girls singles,” Flathead coach Sue Corrigan said.
“They really came together today, played as a team and cheered each other on.”
Corrigan was impressed with the showing of Rydell Week and Nick Buenz at No. 1 doubles. They pulled out a 6-4, 4-6, 10-5 win versus Big Sky.
“They really put their game together,” she said.
“They stuck to their game plan and won.”

CUT BANK — Polson swept a second day of duals, as the Pirates boys and girls beat Libby and Havre.
The boys swept singles play in both duals to remain unbeaten at the tournament. It was most important in a 4-3 victory over Havre, that saw the Pirates drop all three doubles matches, including a tiebreaker at No. 3 doubles.
The girls also dominated singles play, with cassie Carlyle, Olivia Hewston and Sophia Speckert each sweeping matches. The Pirates beat both teams 5-2.
