Hill wins twice at Optimist Invite

GREAT FALLS — Glacier junior Annie Hill set state-best times in the 800 and 1,600 and senior Nikki Krueger topped her own state-best mark in the shot put to lead Glacier to a fourth place team finish at the Great Falls Optimist Invite on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

Hill ran 2:13.38 to win the 800 by more than five seconds and won the 1,600 by 17 seconds in 4:52.48, a time 14 seconds faster than any other girl has run in Montana this year.

Krueger won the shot put with a toss of 41 feet, 2 inches, topping her season-best by nearly two feet and the best mark in the state this season by a foot. She also finished second in the discus.

The Wolfpack’s Ahna Kreitinger finished second in the 300 hurdles behind whirlwind Great Falls star Morgan Evans, Adrian Schnee finished second in the high jump and Abi Fiske finished second in the triple jump.

Evans won the 100, 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles at the prestigious meet, the only girl to win three events.

Flathead placed seven girls at the meet, though none on the top of the podium, finishing 13th as a team.
