FRENCHTOWN —Polson senior Hannah Fryberger ripped a line-drive home run in the top of the seventh inning to lift the Pirates to a 4-3 win over Hamilton at the Frenchtown Invitational softball tournament on Friday, handing the Broncs their first loss of the season.

Fryberger’s shot soared over the right-center field fence to finish off a Polson rally.

Polson scored two runs in the top of the first inning but saw its lead erased by the third inning when Hamilton drove in a pair to take a 3-2 advantage.

The Pirates tied the game in the top of the sixth inning and shut out Hamilton in the home half of the frame, even after the Broncs got a runner to third base with a chance to retake the lead.

Fryberger’s shot with two outs in the seventh retook the lead for Polson and Haley Fyant, who held Hamilton to six hits in the game, shut down the bottom of the inning for the win.

Fryberger finished 1 for 4 at the plate and Kaylanna Desharlais was 2 for 3.
