Pete G. Bergen, 84

Pete G. Bergen, 84, passed away at home in Austin, Texas, on Aug.14, 2017, due to complications from congestive heart failure. Pete was born on Dec. 24, 1932, to Peter and Agnes Bergen in Hampton, Nebraska, the eldest of five living children.

He married Edwina June 8, 1956, and they shared 61 wonderful years together.

Pete was a graduate of Bob Jones University, with a degree in pastoral ministries. He completed graduate courses through Dallas Theological Seminary and Bethel College.

Pete began his ministry by starting Youth for Christ in Omaha, Nebraska. He was gifted in mercy and evangelism and faithfully served in churches and ministries for 60 years in Nebraska, Iowa, Montana, Wisconsin and Minnesota. Pete also served as a volunteer chaplain at the Sandstone Federal Prison in Minnesota. He loved his Lord and shared that personal love with as many people as he could, even in his last days.

Pete is leaving behind his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many extended family members. The family is thankful that he is in the presence of his Savior in heaven.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 25 at Bannockburn Baptist Church, 7100 Brodie Lane, Austin, TX 78745.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to BBFI Mission Office, P.O. Box 191, Springfield, MO 65801, in support of Jon Bergen (No. 126110), a nephew and missionary to Scotland.
