Carl Elias Goble, 89
Carl Elias Goble passed away peacefully late in the evening on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
Carl was born Oct. 24, 1927, in Harrison, Montana, to Harold and Elizabeth Goble. He attended Deer Lodge Elementary and Powell County High School.
After graduating, Carl enlisted in the Marines where he served in Guam during World War II. Returning from the war he attended Western Montana College in Dillon, playing semi-pro baseball and meeting his loving wife and mother to his seven children, Rose Mary Tyro. They married Feb. 1, 1951.
Carl and his growing family moved from Spearfish, South Dakota, to Hungry Horse where he took a position at Anaconda Aluminum, a job that kept his family in the Flathead Valley for approximately 30 years until his retirement at the age of 55, where he then settled in Eureka and enjoyed a life as a snowbird, campground host, professional tinkerer and fun-loving grumpa.
Carl was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping, fishing and boating. Whether you were Wildcat or a Bulldog you could find Carl and Rose in the stands supporting the local sports teams.
Carl was preceded in death by his wife Rose and son Curt.
He is survived by his children, Vonnie and her husband Warren of Eureka, Craig and his wife Lori of Whitefish, Jim and his wife Mary Ellen of Dayton, Beth of Whitefish, Helen of Kalispell, and Keith; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
There will be no formal service for Carl at this time.
Carl was always involved in the community through coaching and community organizations such as Jaycees, Kiwanis, Rotary, Boat Club or local booster clubs. In lieu flowers and gifts, the family is requesting donations in Carl’s name to any of the above-mentioned organizations.
Carl will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
