A trio of local golf pros were among 15 pros honored by the Pacific Northwest PGA for their contributions to the region in 2017.

Head pro Cameron Milton won the Youth Player Development Award for his work at Polson Bay Golf Course, and Iron Horse Golf Club’s head pro Greg C. Morris was named Merchandiser of the Year for in the category for private golf clubs. Tim Olson, head pro at Whitefish Lake Golf Club, received the Deacon Palmer Award, presented annually to a PGA who exhibits “outstanding performance in the face of a personal challenge,” according to the Pacific Northwest PGA’s website.

Milton expanded Polson Bay’s “Golf in Schools” program in two school districts this year, according to a Pacific Northwest PGA press release, exposing more than 500 children to the game during physical education classes. He also offered a junior golf camp free of charge to more than 120 children in rural areas of Montana and on the Flathead Indian Reservation.

Morris has a hand in all merchandising decisions for the Iron Horse pro shop, which is decked out with fixtures from a local iron worker Morris has partnered with.

Three of the 15 pros who received awards will be honored at the Pacific Northwest Section Special Awards Ceremony at Willamette Valley CC in Canby, Oregon, on March 18.
