H?undreds of spectators braved frigid temperatures on Saturday afternoon to watch skiers, riders and horses attempt to conquer the course in the inaugural skijoring competition at Rebecca Farm.

Competitors in three divisions — novice, sport and open — navigated ramps, gates and other obstacles along the 850-foot course while vying for a chunk of the event’s $25,000 purse.

Competition was delayed from its scheduled 11 a.m. start time until the afternoon due to the winter storm that blanketed the Flathead Valley on Friday night and into Saturday morning.

The skijoring event continues today, running from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Rebecca Farm.
