Flathead Electric Co-op helped a record number of businesses save money by offering a rebate for installing energy efficient light fixtures last year.

The company completed 160 different commercial lighting rebate projects. Members received more than $726,700 in rebates and saved 4 million kilowatt hours in annual energy savings. Since implementation in 2005, nearly 1,500 commercial lighting rebate projects have been completed.

In the Columbia Falls area, F.H. Stoltze Land and Lumber, Western Building Company, Freedom Bank and Cedar Creek Lodge participated in the rebate program, said Wendy Ostrom Price, FEC public relations officer.

Business members of the Co-op may be eligible for a rebate when certain fixtures or bulbs are replaced with more efficient ones. The rebate helps offset the cost of the change-out. For more information, contact Mike Stahlberg at 406-751-1876.
