MatCats claim 5th straight Western A divisional title

DILLON — Columbia Falls rules again in Western A divisional wrestling.

However, the MatCats had a much closer margin of victory this year, scoring 227 points over the two-day event to Polson’s 203 total.

Last year it was 275 1/2 for Columbia Falls and runner-up Polson scored 226.

Columbia Falls had one champion on Saturday — Ben Windauer (145) — and two second-place finishers — Winfield West (120) and Mason Fetters (152).

Polson had four finalists and two champions — Parker Adler (138) and Hunter Fritsch (160. Placing second were Kedrick Baker (103) and Bridger Wenzel (126).

Whitefish had an individual champion in Travis Catina (205).

Whitefish was eighth in the team standings with 80 1/2 points.

The top eight wrestlers in all weight classes advance to state, which begins Friday in Billings.
