Fake deputy tries to scam woman

Kalispell Police took a complaint on Saturday afternoon from a woman who said she had received a scam call from someone pretending to be a deputy with the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office. The fake officer told the woman, “Listen to me closely... You are in trouble for not showing up for jury duty.” The caller ID showed that the call originated in Three Forks.

Someone reported seeing a man inside an SUV downtown “shooting something up with a needle.” The suspect, who was never located, started “shaking and rocking back and forth in the seat of the van, then later drove his vehicle around in circles in a parking lot.

A woman allegedly was threatening to enter a home and hurt one or both of the people inside. Eventually, she did break window screens at the home, although no charges were filed in the family dispute.

Columbia Falls Police made an arrest for felony fraud Saturday morning when a woman showed up at Glacier Bank trying to start an account with what appeared to be fraudulent checks. Alert employees called police to handle the situation.

A man driving away from a bar in Columbia Falls nearly hit another man’s truck, who then called 911. Authorities were able to track down the errant driver at a nearby casino. Police took his keys and locked his truck, while an employee was planning to call the man a taxi.

There were several hit and runs reported on Saturday and Sunday. Kalispell Police took the report on one that happened on Hutton Ranch Road in a shopping area. Whitefish Police responded to a complaint on East Second Street, and the Montana Highway Patrol took a report on U.S. 2 in Coram.
