7B Hoops Bigfork boys, Troy girls take tourney titles

EUREKA —Beau Santistevan carried the offensive load for Bigfork, scoring a game-high 32 points as the Vikings edged Thompson Falls 69-66 in the District 7B boys basketball championship game on Saturday evening.

Santistevan netted 13 points in the third quarter and 22 in the second half.

Bigfork led 49-38 going into the final eight minutes, but a strong finish by Thompson Falls, a 28-point quarter, made for a tight finish.

Logan Gillard added 10 points for Bigfork.

Nathan Thibeault and John Skerl topped Thompson Falls in scoring with 12 points each.

The top four boys and girls teams from the 7B tournament advance to the Western B divisional, which begins Thursday in Ronan.

Also competing at the divisional are the top four teams, boys and girls, from the District 6B tournament held over the weekend in Hamilton.

EUREKA — Eureka used a 19-point second quarter to get some distance on Troy and tallied 16 points in the final frame to notch the victory in the third/fourth-place game.

Libby led 28-7 at the half.

Ryggs Johnston and Colin Maloney paced Libby offensively with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Dillon Savage had 12 points for Troy.

EUREKA — Regular-season champion Troy led early and finished strong to best Bigfork in the final.

Troy held an 8-2 and 18-15 advantage after the first two quarter stops.

Up 29-27 after three quarters, Troy outscored the Valkyries 19-13 in the final eight minutes.

Allie Coldwell led Troy with 17 points.

Jaime Berg topped Bigfork, and all scorers, with 20 points.

EUREKA — Stacy Cooper made two free throws with six seconds remaining to complete the scoring and give Eureka the victory in the third/fourth-place game.

Libby had a chance to pull it out when Jayden Winslow went coast-to-coast after Cooper’s free throws, but her shot went in and out.

Cooper finished with nine points.

Sienna Utter led Eureka, which had only four players score, with 13 points. Erynn Their added 10.

Sammee Breeden topped Libby in scoring with 12 points.
