A total of 33 students from Glacier and Whitefish high schools will advance to the DECA International Career Development Conference after competing at state.

The two teams were among 11 Montana schools and roughly 500 students who recently competed at the Montana DECA Career Development Conference in Great Falls.

At state, students competed in marketing, finance, hospitality and tourism, business administration and entrepreneurship events through role playing, presentations and written research.

Glacier brought 62 competitors with 24 qualifying for internationals. Glacier DECA also achieved the “Thrive level” status for its efforts in completing promotional campaigns within the school and local community. Glacier raised $228.58 for the Montana Muscular Dystrophy Association during its promotional campaign this fall.

Whitefish brought 18 competitors to state with nine qualifying for the international conference.

Depending on the event, the top two to three competitors qualify to compete at the international level. Although students may compete in multiple events at state, qualifiers may only compete in one event at the international conference.

The International Career Development Conference will be held April 24-30 in Anaheim, California. Approximately 18,000 students from nine countries are anticipated to attend.
