Flathead County’s first baby of the new year arrived at 1:39 a.m. New Year’s Day. Madelyn Mae Baiar was born to Emily and Michael Baiar of Columbia Falls. She weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces. The Baiars own Halfmoon Rifle and Marine in Columbia Falls. Paternal grandparents are Jeff and Jody Baiar. Maternal grandparents are Jeff and Angie Fleming.

Kalispell Regional Medical Center’s first baby of 2017 arrived at 9:42 a.m. New Year’s Day. Soren Anderson, the son of Zak Anderson and Aaron Goodman, tipped the scale at 7.1 pounds and was 19 inches long. He is the couple’s first child.
