Application for neo-Nazi march deemed incomplete

The city of Whitefish on Monday received by mail an incomplete application for a special event from The Daily Stormer for a proposed Jan. 16 march on Second Street from Memorial Park to City Hall.

The neo-Nazi website has been touting a “James Earl Ray Day Extravaganza” armed march and parade on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Whitefish from 4 to 7 p.m.

“We are still reviewing the application, but we cannot act on an incomplete application,” Whitefish City Manager Chuck Stearns said in an email advisory on Monday. “We will try to disseminate more information as it becomes available.”

Stearns added that the Whitefish Police Department “continues to refine its operational plan to ensure the safety of residents and visitors.”

The Daily Stormer led a “troll storm” recently encouraging its followers to target Whitefish businesses and Jewish families with harassing phone calls and social media posts.
