Glacier High School Speech and Debate switched gears up this year and competed at the BlackSnake Invitational at Idaho State University over the weekend.

It was the first time that Glacier competed in the Idaho tournament, normally competing in the Conway Classic at Gonzaga University. Glacier Head Coach Greg Adkins said the switch was made because of limitations on the number of competitors the team could bring at the Conway Classic.

“We wanted to get as many kids a chance to compete,” Adkins said.

Bozeman edged out Glacier 114 to 109 in overall points for top honors in the two-day tournament that featured about 20 teams from four states.

“It was really a battle with Bozeman all weekend,” Adkins said. “Bozeman had competed at the tournament several years before and had a slight advantage because of their familiarity with the tournament and several alternative events, but I am really excited about our efforts.”

Glacier will compete at the Richest Hill on Earth Tournament this weekend in Butte.
