Too much pow, public complains

Kalispell Police took multiple complaints about neighbors and paid snow plow drivers shoving the snow into unwanted places. The city government issued a statement on Friday warning that snow storage capacity had almost been reached and that some public rights of way and sidewalks might end up with the freshly fallen precipitation piled on top. Officers advised that people go around berms and exercise patience with the situation.

Officers found teens, including one with a beanie with a marijuana leaf on it, after someone called to report that it appeared the underage duo were smoking weed. The officer could not locate any contraband.

Someone complained of “big time bullying” going on at Airport Road, and men shoving another man around. The caller said the disturbance was not a fight, but instead was people “being mean” to a man.

A man was taken to the hospital for possible alcohol poisoning after he was found in the lobby of an establishment on First Avenue West, in a pile of cigarettes and possible vomit. A bottle of whiskey was found nearby.

Flathead County Sheriff’s Office took a report from outside of Columbia Falls, where a man claimed that he had loaned his vehicle to a coworker, only to have his AR-15 rifle come up missing. The coworker claimed he or she had not stolen it.

A woman called from Parker Lakes Road in Bigfork to report that a company said a package had been delivered, but that she had never received it.

A fish finder was reported stolen from a fishing derby in Olney.

A deputy helped an elderly woman with dementia back to her home and advised that she have future prescriptions delivered, after someone called for help after seeing the woman driving in the wrong lane of the roadway.

A set of tires was reported stolen from Trumble Creek Road outside of Kalispell.

Someone called from Vista Lane in Bigfork to report that screens had been taken off windows and someone had gained access to a residence, but it appeared that the person involved had watched some television and left, without taking anything.

A snowblower was reported as stolen from a driveway on Ridgewood Drive.

A deputy was unable to locate a suspect after someone who stopped to help a woman with an overheating car thought it odd that a small child with her kept saying “lost” and “scared.”

A woman on Sulky Lane outside of Kalispell asked for patrol after a van allegedly drove around her home slowly before a young man jumped out of the vehicle, ran up, rang a door bell, and then took off. The person was not 100 percent sure the person had a rifle or sure if the man had run back to the van.

Whitefish Police Department took a report from a person whose vehicle had allegedly been hit by a snow plow at a car dealership.

Someone called concerned that a flag was flying upside down on the west side of the viaduct. The caller said that is typically a sign of distress. The information was forwarded to the property owner.

Someone called from Oregon to voice concerns about the impact of a rumored march in Whitefish on the community. The person had no ties to Montana, dispatchers noted.

Columbia Falls Police took a report from a man who complained that an officer was harassing him, but not really. The man asked that the officer not say “hi” to him again.
