C-Falls girls, boys belt Whitefish

WHITEFISH — The Columbia Falls girls ran away early to beat rival Whitefish 65-22 in a Northwest A conference basketball game Thursday evening.

Columbia Falls (3-0 Northwest A, 9-0 overall) led 40-8 at halftime and opened the lead to 61-18 after the third quarter in the rout.

Peyton Kehr had a game-high 17 points for the Wildkats and Cydney Finberg and Kiara Burlage each had 14 points in the win.

Libby Nagler led Whitefish (0-1, 0-8) with eight points.

Whitefish is back in action Saturday at Thompson Falls.

Columbia Falls hosts Glacier next Thursday.

RONAN — Ronan pulled out to a 15-point halftime lead and never looked back, beating Anaconda in a District 6B game.

The Maidens (5-0 6B, 11-0 overall) led 22-13 after the first quarter and expanded their lead in the second half.

Alicia Camel and Micalann McCrea each had 18 points for Ronan and Lee Camel added 15 points.

Areona Mattson led Anaconda (1-4, 3-7) with 10 points.

WHITEFISH — Columbia Falls held Whitefish to only three points in the second quarter to leg out a victory and earn their first Northwest A conference win of the season.

The Wildcats (1-2 Northwest A, 2-7 overall) outscored Whitefish 19-3 in the second quarter to overcome a six-point deficit and take a 30-20 lead at the break, holding on in the second half for the win.

Logan Stephens led Columbia Falls with 18 points and Matt Morrison had 12 points.

Derek Kastella had 17 points for Whitefish (0-1 2-6) and Lee Walburn had 16 points.

BIGFORK — Bigfork closed the first quarter on a 13-3 run and pulled away for a 30-point win over Thompson Falls in a District 7B contest.

The Vikings (4-0 7B, 8-1 overall) found its form at the end of the first quarter, taking a 19-12 lead and expanded the lead in the second quarter to take a 40-22 advantage at half, continuing to pull away until the end of the game.

Anders Epperly had 22 points and 13 assists and Logan Gilliard had 22 points for Bigfork. Clayton Reichenbach had 16 points and Chase Chappuis added 12 points for the Vikings.

Danny Hoisington led Thompson Falls (2-2, 2-6) with a game-high 23 points.

ANACONDA — Anaconda took a 22-8 lead after the first quarter and didn’t relinquish it, pulling away late in a District 6B rout of Ronan.

The Copperheads (2-3 6B, 5-5 overall) took command early and outscored Ronan 20-7 in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Braxton Hill led Anaconda with a game-high 27 points and Kaden Stetzner had 13 points.

Ezekiel Misa had 15 points to lead Ronan (2-3, 6-5).
