Customer goes postal, throws trash
The Columbia Falls Police Department responded to a report of littering when an upset post office customer reportedly threw trash all over on First Street East in Columbia Falls. Officers contacted the alleged litterbug and advised him or her of the possible crime.
A man on Fourth Avenue West wanted advice from police after he received a $1,000 check from “Zion Oil and Gas” out of Texas to allegedly purchase a video game console he was selling online for $200. The alleged buyer instructed him to cash the check and send the item and left over cash. Police advised the man to discard the check as it was likely a scam.
The Kalispell Police Department received a report that a “bicycle bandit” had allegedly been in the area “stashing stuff” on U.S. 93 South.
A flannel-clad rapscallion reportedly threatened an employee on North Main Street, allegedly assaulting the employee with an “ice ball,” before leaving on a bicycle. The employee had reportedly asked the man to leave several times.
A Second Avenue West resident asked police to check on the welfare of a crying woman who allegedly knocked on the resident’s door stating she wanted to work for money and began a conversation that was “all over the place.” The woman was gone by the time officers arrived.
A dog, barking in the distance somewhere, perturbed a woman on Rockwood Road.
A license plate was reported stolen on East Center Street.
Someone on 11th Street West thought it was suspicious that a running vehicle with people inside had reportedly been sitting in front of a residence for 15 minutes and another person may have been across the street shining a flashlight into a shed and walking around a house. The vehicle was ultimately towed to Montana Highway Patrol facilities.
An employee on West Reserve Drive reported two people sitting in a car were allegedly loitering and “doing weird things,” but was unable to elaborate on what that meant. The employee said the car had reportedly been leaving and returning to the business all night.
A man was advised to move along after reportedly “relieving himself” in a Sunset Plaza parking lot.
A concerned Kirsten Drive resident told officers a woman came to his door claiming to be with “RTI International,” doing a survey for drug use and health, and offered $30 if a full interview was completed. Officers counseled the man.
A man on North Main Street was puzzled after the driver of a red van reportedly pulled up to a vehicle he was standing near, got out and tried to grab at the door of the vehicle. The man told officers he yelled at the driver, who then allegedly took off.
Flathead County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle allegedly sitting near storage units “for awhile” on Welf Lane in Kalispell.
A man wanted to know why a patrol car was in his driveway on Seville Lane in Coram. He was advised that officers were involved in a traffic stop with non-compliant people and to stay inside and secure his residence.
Drug paraphernalia was allegedly found on a student on West Evergreen Drive.
Someone on North Fork Road in Columbia Falls allegedly came across a vehicle in which a man, described as missing most of his teeth, and woman may have been “shooting up” drugs. The man reportedly yelled about being out of gas.
Apparently a couple of hours was too long for children to be playing outside in a snowy grassy area according to someone on Montana 35 who reported the children knocked on a door to be let in, but no one was letting them in. Turns out the children were OK, just alerting a parent about another child eating snow.
A Kila resident advised officers “his grandson is wanting to take over the downstairs of his home.” He apparently didn’t want that to happen.
