Dale Howell, 89

Dale Howell, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away from natural causes at his home in Polson with family members at his side Jan. 20, 2017.

He was born in Dillon on April 9, 1927, to Wiley and Lula Howell, the ninth of 10 children. The family moved to Charlo in 1928. Dale graduated from Charlo High School in 1945.

In 1946 he was drafted into the Army. After basic training he was shipped to Tokyo, Japan, as a member of General Douglas MacArthur’s honor guard where he served for two years. In 1950 he was called into the Korean conflict as a reservist.

He married Faye Johnston on Jan. 20, 1952. He passed away on their 65th wedding anniversary.

After serving his country Dale served his apprenticeship in the glass trade. He attended MSU in Bozeman and then became employed for WP Fuller Paint & Glass as an estimator. In 1966 he founded Valley Glass in Kalispell with Herb Albright and his brother Ted Howell.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and his son Larry and daughter-in-law Leslie.

He is survived by his wife Faye, his daughter Diana (Mike) Brown, and his sons Lyle (Laurie) and Loyd (Jeri). He is also survived by eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held in Polson on April 15, 2017, at First United Methodist Church. Time to be announced at a later date.
