Polson, Browning housing projects get federal funding

Housing projects in Polson and Browning are among the developments statewide that will receive $27.1 million in federal housing tax credits through the Montana Board of Housing to help with the construction and rehabilitation of rental housing for low income families.

Polson Landing will receive $6.7 million for construction of 35 units providing three one-bedroom, 19 two-bedroom and 12 three-bedroom units for families. A manager unit also is included. The total project investment of $6.9 million will result in 90 jobs earning $3.8 million in wages and salaries supported by construction activity. Developer of the Polson project is Housing Solutions LLC.

Blackfeet Homes VI in Browning will receive $6.8 million for construction of 30 dwelling units, including 20 three-bedroom and 10 four-bedroom units for families. The total project investment of $6.9 million will result in 90 jobs earning $3.8 million in wages and salaries supported by construction activity. The developer is Blackfeet Housing.

Housing credits allow developers to borrow less money and pass those savings along to families through lower rents.
