Man seen with obscene sign

Kalispell Police spoke with a man holding an obscene sign on Hutton Ranch Road. The man was told to move along.

A caller told police there was a party going on at a residence on Eighth Avenue West. The caller said there was a “strong odor of marijuana,” and children present. Officers checked the gathering in question, and reported it was a “very mellow party” with no signs of drug use.

A cellphone was allegedly stolen out of a shopping cart at a store on Hutton Ranch Road.

A party on Northern Lights Boulevard reportedly included alcohol, fireworks and trespassing on a neighbor’s lawn. Officers counseled the group allegedly involved.

A caller wanted to know if there was anything that could be done about the train coming through town in the middle of the night and blowing its horn.

A man and woman were allegedly seen on West Idaho Street engaging in “sexual contact” on a public power box. Officers were able to speak with the male suspect, who denied that anything indecent occurred. He was trespassed from the area.

A man staying at a Treeline Drive hotel called police to report that someone has parked a vehicle up against his motorcycle in the parking lot. He wanted to file a report in case of damage to the bike.

A Western Drive resident called to complain about two dogs running all over the neighborhood. She said it was an ongoing problem. Officers spoke with the dogs’ owner, who agreed to take them home so they wouldn’t be running around.

An employee of a bank on Second Avenue East called police when a man came in and allegedly attempted to cash a stolen check. The man was gone by the time officers arrived, and they were unable to locate him.

A Fifth Avenue East resident called police about a refrigerator that had been left in a nearby neighbor’s yard. The caller thought the home’s residents had moved and just didn’t take it, and was concerned that neighborhood children might be getting into it.

A tree reportedly fell into the road on Sixth Avenue East. Vehicles were able to get around the tree using a single lane until the fire department could arrive to remove the obstacle. No vehicle damage or injuries were reported.

Some Harrison Boulevard residents were reported for lighting fireworks in the neighborhood.

Fireworks and related issues were also reported on Empire Loop, Barron Way and Merganser Drive.

A Second Avenue West resident called police to report a cat in the very top of a tree. Officers spoke with the cat’s owner, who was not worried and said the cats climb up and down on their own.

Whitefish Police responded to some local pickleball courts to help clean up some broken glass.

A Park Avenue resident called to report that her purse was either lost or stolen.

An East Third Avenue resident complained of loud music going on at a nearby hotel.

Someone reported groceries and a backpack stolen out of an unlocked vehicle that had been parked in a Central Avenue lot.

Creston Fire Department responded to reports of smoke on Riverside Road in Bigfork.

Marion Fire Department responded to reports of a grass fire on Lost Prairie Road.

Kalispell Fire Department responded to reports of an outdoor gas odor on Bluestone Drive.

Smith Valley Fire Department responded to reports of a grass fire on Prairie Lane in Kalispell.

Bad Rock Fire Department responded to reports of a grass fire on Hellman Lane in Columbia Falls.

Columbia Falls Fire Department responded to reports of smoke on Parker Hill Road.

Whitefish Fire Department responded to reports of smoke on Oettiker Creek Road.
