LIBBY — In Wednesday’s American Legion baseball doubleheader against the Missoula Mavericks A, the Glacier Twins A cruised to an easy win in Game 1 before squeaking by in the nightcap.

They followed the same formula on Friday night.

Glacier eased by the Libby Loggers A 9-4 in the opener and held on late to win Game 2 6-5.

Greyson Bistodeau keyed the Twins’ offense from the top of the batting order with a total of five hits, two runs and two RBIs.

Derick Kastella had three RBIs in the Game 2 win, two of which came on a go-ahead single to center field with two outs in the fifth inning. The other came in Glacier’s four-run first inning.

The Twins received contributions from all parts of the lineup in Game 1, as seven of nine starters recorded a hit.

The top of the order, however, did the majority of the damage.

Paced by Bistodeau, the first four batters combined for nine hits, six runs and four RBIs.

Tyler Murphy chipped in three hits, two runs and two RBIs, and Gunner Marsh drove in two runs.

Seth Bateman was the only Logger with multiple hits against Skyler Warner, who kept Libby off balance for 6 1/3 innings.

Warner surrendered four runs (three earned) on six hits and four walks. He struck out five.

Brady Bateman took the loss for Libby, allowing nine runs (eight earned) on 16 hits.

In the hotly contested nightcap, Glacier jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but the Loggers responded with two runs in the second and third innings to take a one-run lead.

Kastella’s fifth-inning single reclaimed the lead for the Twins, but Libby knotted the game with a run in the bottom half.

It wasn’t long before Glacier reclaimed the lead once more.

Bistodeau drove a double to left field, his second two-bagger of the game, to give the Twins a lasting lead.

Zach Veneman pitched perfect frames in the sixth and seventh innings to cap off three innings of one-hit relief for Glacier, which travels south to Kalispell this afternoon for a nine-inning game beginning at 3 p.m.

Libby visits the Cranbrook Bandits today for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
