Dogs in hot cars concern community

An individual reported to Kalispell Police three small dogs were allegedly locked in a gray Toyota van. The dogs were actively barking and had no water. The temperature was 88 degrees. The reporting party allegedly became very upset with the owner and an officer asked her to separate herself from the situation. The officer advised the owners of the heat and asked them to keep an eye on their dogs.

A dog was reportedly tied up at an apartment complex for the last couple weeks from 5 a.m. to midnight with no visible food nor water. An officer responded to the complex and found the dog had food, water and a crate. Shade was available in a hallway. The reporting party allegedly said she filled the dog’s water bowl and was worried it would get sunburned.

A caller reported their male neighbor was allegedly taking photographs of their children with a tablet. An officer made contact with the reporting party and informed them they could not do anything about the neighbor taking photos and advised them to speak with their landlord.

A disruptive male was reportedly screaming obscenities in the ER at a local hospital. Hospital security requested the male be removed from the facility. The male agreed to leave.

A female called the police to report library staff would allegedly not let her print documents for a housing application. The female was allegedly being uncooperative and belligerent. Library staff reportedly shut off the computer and refused to turn it back on.

A caller reported a vehicle allegedly swerved into oncoming traffic and nearly hit two vehicles head on before driving in and then out of a ditch. Another reporting party who stated they were a retired FBI agent allegedly found the driver passed out in his driveway and told dispatch he would shoot him if he had too. The driver was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant and transported to a local hospital for a blood draw.

A male reportedly punched a female in the back and then ran toward the woods. The male had allegedly taken the victim’s dog, but could not take care of it and brought it back to her. An officer said they would take the dog to a shelter.

Juveniles allegedly brought five used needles to the police department that they allegedly found near a tent. One of the juvenile’s parents allegedly said the manager at their apartment complex was not doing anything about the transient living there. An officer collected the needles and said they would do extra patrols in the area.

A caller said their neighbor reportedly carried a sidearm constantly and shined a green laser at their dogs and their home. When the caller and their children are outside playing, he said the neighbor allegedly makes a point of coming outside and staring at them. An officer left a message for the reporting party.

A juvenile male allegedly broke a window at a local school accidentally. One of the boy’s parents said the incident was due to their son “bouncing a rock.” An officer spoke with the boy and his mother and found the juvenile was allegedly trying to scare two girls by throwing a rock in their direction, but the rock continued past them and hit a window, shattering it.

A group of six juveniles and their parents were reportedly chasing ducks and trying to beat them with sticks. An officer spoke with the parents and children, who told them it would not happen again.

An elderly female with orange hair was reportedly throwing up on a sidewalk near a local restaurant. Her vehicle was allegedly still partially on the road. Whitefish Police officers responded to the location, but the individual was gone on arrival.

A caller reportedly heard individuals breaking into the house next door. They allegedly heard someone say “push” and then heard things fall over. They also saw someone outside with a flashlight who shined a light into their house. An officer responded to the scene and discovered a male was locked out of the house and allegedly had a couple friends who were passed out inside. The male allegedly said he’d try to call them and get a hotel for the night if they did not answer.

A caller reported an unwanted male inside his house who allegedly appeared to be drunk or high and did not want to leave. The male was allegedly riding his bike, searching for his dad who was camping. An officer transported the man to the campground and located his father. The homeowner did not want to pursue charges.
