Lakers AA sweep Elks

The Kalispell Lakers AA took an American Legion baseball doubleheader from the Lethbridge Elks AA on Sunday afternoon at Griffin Field, winning 8-1 and 7-3.

Dawson Smith tossed a 3-hitter for the Lakers in the 8-1 victory. He went seven innings, striking out seven and walking one.

Hayden Schlepp and Spencer Pisk both drove in two runs for the Lakers.

Kalispell did all of its scoring in the fifth and sixth innings.

Sam Elliott and Drew Scherrer combined on a 3-hitter in the 7-3 triumph over the Elks.

Patrick O’Connell, 2 for 3, drove in three runs with his double and triple.

Torin Bowden, Pisk and Keaden Morisaki also doubled.

Kalispell hosts Bozeman AA for a single 9-inning game on Thursday and Friday. The regular-season ends with a Saturday doubleheader at Butte.

State tournament action follows in Bozeman starting July 26th.

WHITEFISH — The Kalispell Lakers A scored two runs in the top of the first inning, but Glacier came back to score the next 14 in the romp.

Glacier’s big inning was the bottom of the first with five runs.

Jack Schwaiger, Gunner Marsh both went 2 for 4 and drove in two runs.

Derek Kastella, 1 for 5, and Matt Morrison, 1 for 3, also had two RBIs each.

Nathan Hader, 3 for 4, had the game’s lone extra base hit — a double.

Taylor Morton led Kalispell offensively by going 2 for 2.

Tyler Murphy picked up the win. He fanned 10 Kalispell batters in seven innings and walked one.

Glacier (36-14) and Kalispell will compete in the District Tournament, which begins Thursday in Whitefish.

Three Forks hosts the State A Legion Tournament starting July 27th.
