Man in clown costume questioned

A passer-by on U.S. 93 South told the Whitefish Police Department that there was a man dressed in all black wearing clown makeup throwing fireworks and yelling while walking down the street. Officers located the man, who said he was dressed in costume because he was headed to a party downtown and that the fireworks were thrown by someone else.

Someone called police about a lost dog running around on Mill Avenue. The pooch was reportedly a white and brown “mutt” that was not aggressive.

Officers spoke with a couple of transients on East First Street about the city’s open container laws.

A Wisconsin Avenue resident called police about loud music and someone speaking into a “very loud” microphone at a wedding being held at a nearby venue. The caller requested that police tell the venue to keep it down.

Police took several calls about a heavily intoxicated man on East First Street who was reportedly having trouble staying conscious. Officers checked on the man several times.

A Darlene Road resident called the Columbia Falls Police Department to complain about the noise being caused by a front-end loader doing work nearby. The resident wanted the noise stopped because it was “too early.”

Officers stopped a man driving an ATV and counseled him on his driving. The man agreed to stick to the road’s shoulder the rest of the way home.

The Creston Fire Department responded to reports of a structure fire on Riverside Road. They also checked out a report of smoke on Steel Mountain Road.

The Smith Valley Fire Department responded to reports of a structure fire on Cobbler Village Terrace.

The Somers-Lakeside Fire Department responded to reports of an illegal burn on Pine Needle Drive.

The Kalispell Fire Department responded to reports of a motor vehicle fire.
