Great Northern Trail to close for improvements

The Kila portion of the Great Northern Trail will be closed for improvements beginning Tuesday, July 25, or Wednesday, July 26.

Rails to Trails of Northwest Montana has contracted with Flathead Valley Community College to elevate the trail in front of Kila School and Kila Post Office.

The work will raise the trail to provide handicapped access to the post office and eliminate the occasional spring washouts.

Work is anticipated to be completed prior to school opening. Until work is completed, trail users are asked to refrain from using the trail in this area to allow the crews to complete their work safely.
