Flathead grad Mike Reilly named CFL Player of the Week

EDMONTON, Alberta — Edmonton Eskimos quarterback Mike Reilly is a CFL Player of the Week for Week 5 for his performance in Friday’s 31-28 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Reilly threw for 350 yards and three touchdowns on 27 of 37 pass attempts, including the game-winning touchdown with 23 seconds remaining to improve the Eskimos record to 4 – 0.

The 2003 Flathead High School grad has thrown for 1,216 yards and seven touchdowns on 101-140 pass attempts.

Reilly is also the only starting CFL quarterback to have not thrown an interception this season.

CFL Players of the Week are chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office.

The Eskimos host the BC Lions on Friday in Edmonton. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m. MT.

Duford signs at

Rocky Mountain

BILLINGS — Rocky Mountain College women’s soccer coach Richard Duffy has announced the signing of Polson forward Tiara Duford to a Cascade Collegiate Conference letter of intent.

Duford will enroll at Rocky this fall.

Duford was a four-year starter for the Pirates, completing her career with 51 goals and 20 assists.

Her 23 goals during the 2016 season tied the regular season school record. Duford earned all-state honors during both the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

“Tiara is a great addition to our program,” Duffy said. “She is an exceptional athlete and will cause opponents problems with her work rate and speed.”

The Battlin’ Bears begin their 2017 campaign with an alumni scrimmage, Aug. 5.

Pair of aces at Eagle Bend

BIGFORK — A pair of golfers hit their first career hole in one this week at Eagle Bend Golf Club.

Jan Gordon aced the 106-yard par-3 sixth hole on Saturday, hitting an 8-iron to card the hole-in-one.

Witnesses were Jan Wagner, Pam Mitchell and Jean Sewell.

Jon Parmer played the sixth hole from 116 yards on Monday, using a pitching wedge to sink his first hole-in-one.

Dale Kalberg and Jim Roth were witnesses.
