Performers sought for open stage night in Bigfork

Musicians, comedians, writers, poets, authors and readers are invited to perform at Clementine’s Cabin Open Stage in Bigfork, Saturday, June 17.

The event begins at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30.

A vegetarian dinner and/or dessert will be on sale during the event, along with coffee, tea, beer and wine.

Interested attendees are asked to call Stephanie at (406) 837-6309 by June 15 to reserve dinner or a spot to perform.

History Book Club talks Timothy Egan’s ‘Worst Hard Time’

Timothy Egan’s “The Worst Hard Time: The Untold Story of Those Who Survived the Great American Dust Bowl,” will be the subject of discussion at the History Book Club’s next meeting.

The group will gather Thursday, June 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Museum at Central School in Kalispell. The meeting is free to attend and open to the public.

“The Worst Hard Time” chronicles the dust storms and drought that hit America’s plains in the darkest years of the Great Depression. The award-winning book follows several families in their desperate attempts to carry on through black blizzards, crop failure and the deaths of loved ones. The book is available through the local library system.
