Glenn L. Shaner, 64

| June 6, 2017 8:49 PM

Glenn L. Shaner, 64, of Polson, “went to be with his Lord” on Thursday, May 18, 2017.

Glenn was born May 25, 1952, at Mount Holly, New Jersey.

As a young man he volunteered with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program in Livingston. He became Big Brother to Ben Cerise in 1980. The two have remained close throughout the years and considered each other “father and son.” Glenn’s love of children eventually led him to become a school bus driver for the past 22 years of his life.

Glenn enjoyed nature. He loved sailing, camping, hunting and bird watching. He loved collecting historical memorabilia, and learning all he could pertaining to world history.

Glenn was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Griffith, and his father, Lester Shaner.

He will be missed by his sister, Jan Barnett, and her husband, Gene, of Superior, Colorado. He will also be missed by his best friend, Orla Miller; by his “adopted family;” and his many friends at the Polson bus barn.

Memorial services will take place at 6 p.m. July 13 near Woods Bay at 19802 Montana Highway 35 between mile markers 21 and 22. There will be blue balloons to mark the driveway. Please bring a chair if you prefer to sit. Food and beverages will be served.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Friends of Montana PBS, P.O. Box 10715, Bozeman, MT 59719-0715; or to the Montana Audubon Society, 324 Fullers, Suite N5, P.O. Box 595, Helena, MT 59601.

Memories and condolences may be sent to the family at www.thelakefuneralhomeandcrematory.com. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lake Funeral Home and Crematory.
