Two new shows opening in Bigfork

The renowned Bigfork Summer Playhouse’s 58th season ramps up in the next week with the season premiers of “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” and “Mamma Mia!”
The first show of the season, “The Marvelous Wonderettes,” opened May 19 and will remain a part of the schedule through July 1.

“SEVEN BRIDES for Seven Brothers” hits the stage Saturday, June 10 and will run through Aug. 24.
This all-dancing, all-singing, all-new production of the musical comedy classic is a big, brawling, rollicking show filled with rambunctious energy and set in 1850s Oregon Mountain Territory. This musical, based on the hit film, tells the story of Adam Pontipee and his backwoods brothers’ unusual pursuit of brides. When Adam goes to town to get a wife, he miraculously convinces the beautiful and feisty Milly to marry him that same day, and then she immediately starts reforming her six rowdy brothers-in-law. When her plan to marry off the boys backfires, this rousing musical kicks into high gear with a combination of daredevil dancing and songs like “Goin’ Courtin,” “Sobbin’ Women,” and “Wonderful, Wonderful Day.” The production features the choreography of Ashley Chasteen and musical direction of Kerry Glann.
“This is the perfect show for the Bigfork Summer Playhouse,” Director Scott Seidl said. “It could easily have taken place right here in town just outside the theater doors. Seeing the hilarious ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’ could be one of the highlights of your summer.”
FEATURING THE music of ABBA, “MAMMA MIA!” opens June 13 with a two-month run also continuing through Aug. 24.
On a small Greek island, Sophie is dreaming of a perfect wedding, three possible dads, and a mother who was a former pop star with two crazy friends to help with the wedding. This Broadway hit is set around the music of Swedish pop group ABBA. Scott Koljonen directs the score, Marissa Kirby has choreographed the dances, and the play is directed by Broadway star Leah Zepel.
The show features songs like “Dancing Queen,” “Honey Honey,” “Take A Chance on Me,” “Does Your Mother Know That You’re Out,” “The Name of The Game” and many more.
