SHERIDAN, Wyo. — A trio of Kalispell basketball players representing Montana against the best of the best from neighboring Wyoming on Friday night.

Glacier big man Jaxen Hashley scored 16 points to lead Montana’s boy’s to a 93-78 win over Wyoming in Game 1 of the Montana-Wyoming All-Star Basketball Series at Sheridan College.

The girls were also well-represented, as Flathead’s Tiana Johnson and Glacier’s Nikki Krueger each made contributions for their victorious Montana team.

Johnson scored eight points, and Krueger added seven, including the first three points of the game for Montana, in a 69-68 nailbiter.

Montana jumped out to a 22-10 lead in the first quarter and barely withstood a furious fourth-quarter rally that saw Wyoming outscore the visiting team 24-14.

Both the boys’ and girls’ all-star teams will compete again tonight in Game 2 of the all-star series, which will be held in Billings. Tipoff of the girls’ game is set for 5:30 p.m., with the boys scheduled to follow at 7:30 p.m.
