Twins A 3-0 at Cloninger Classic

The Daily Inter Lake

HELENA — The Glacier Twins A team has swept through its first two days of American Legion baseball competition at the Cloninger Classic, including a pair of wins on Saturday.

The Twins dominated both games on the second day of play, beating Vauxhall 13-2 in a morning contest.

Glacier scored five runs in the first inning and eight runs in the second to pounce on the Spurs early. Twins pitcher Coby Clark-Dickenson held Vauxhall scoreless through three innings and Glacier kept the Spurs off the scoreboard until a two-run fifth inning closed out the contest.

James Sampson-Keck was 2 for 3 with a double, a triple and four RBIs in the win and Clark-Dickenson had two RBIs while also picking up the win on the mound.

In the nightcap, Glacier held Anaconda to one hit and one run in a 15-1 thrashing.

Skyler Warner held Anaconda scoreless through three innings and Tyler Murphy finished the job, allowing the only hit of the game.

The Twins scored 10 runs in the second inning to put the contest away early and added five runs in the fourth for insurance, winning the game in five innings.

Murphy picked up two hits again in the second game, adding three RBIs in the win.

The Twins toughest game of the tournament so far came in their opener on Friday, when they edged the host Helena Reps 7-3.

Glacier scored one run in each of the first four innings to build a 4-2 lead midway through the game. A two-run seventh inning gave the Twins breathing room in the win.
